I had a blast at the Essen Motor Show this weekend! The show is a lot bigger than I had imagined and it had something for everyone; parts and accessories, rat rods, customs, exotics, classics, motorcycles, race cars and even a few rock crawlers. The preview and press day allowed me to get plenty of photos without people in them but I’m glad I went back on opening day to get the feel of the show with all of the visitors. It was unbelievably crowded opening day, to the point it was very difficult to walk around, and this is a large facility! The one thing I discovered while trying to photograph the show was how difficult the lighting was to figure out. Every booth seemed to have different lights, making it very difficult to get the white balance correct. I finally just decided to set it based on the subject and not worry too much on the background. I really look forward to attending this show again next year.
